2020 HAS BEGUN WITH OUR INTEREST GROUPS GETTING INTO THE SWING OF THINGS : —
Walking Group BBQ – Jan 2019

JANUARY 13th – Our 6.30 Monday Walkers have persevered thru the heat – 26 of us were rewarded with a Jan 13th cool day, plus a wonderful BBQ Breakfast put on by John & Di at Schuster park — [ Images ]

JANUARY 14th :- 34 Members and 7 Visitors have had a top quality lunch at our first 2020 ‘Monthly Bistro Group’ :-
– Tweed’s Seagulls Club –
22 stayed on to play Social Cards [ 500 and Canasta/Hand & Foot ] during the afternoon.
All had a great time- excellent, quality food and great camaraderie.
February 11th’s Group will meet at Club Banora for more of the same.

FEBRUARY EVENT :- Tweed River Cruise- Many members leapt aboard for a tour of the lower Tweed river system, then up to Tumbulgum for Lunch.

MARCH 8th – Special Kingscliff Sunday. We will have a hearty breakfast at Kingscliff Bowls Club, then traipse off to the Movies across the road.
This should be a memorable day- this boutique theatre has its very own charm.

Plans are afoot for yet another happy celebration of this 2020 milestone.

The Probus Cornerstone is our Member’s Monthly Meeting- this being on the 4th Thursday of each month at 10 am sharp.
Meeting venue is the function room of the RSL Club of Currumbin . Assembly at 9.40 for 10.00 am.
Club entry fee is $4.oo
Our Attendances are approx. 65 ; the Meeting being capped off with a Guest Speaker or Entertainer.
Many of us go down to the updated RSL Dining Room for lunch- we have a jolly time chatting, making visitors welcome, hatching up new things to do with our Probus friends for the coming weeks.
Our next MONTHLY MEETING is on Thursday February 27th 2020 — 9.40 for 10 am sharp.

WALKING GROUP
Our Monday 6.30 am Walking Group starts from selected venues – vigorous or slow, we walk at own pace then meet back for a coffee and chat session. This week we had 24 of our Walkers enjoying the day and the company. Come to a Monthly Meeting, and then the next Walk to meet some of your new friends for 2020 !

GOLF GROUP
MAY 2019 GOLF GROUP at TALLY VALLEY 
Our Monthly Golf Group hits off after a Lunch from various chosen courses – the Group has >19 members and always seems to have a great day. Our last 2019 event was a Christmas Golf Breakup-day Sunday 1st December at the Boomerang Farm. [ see Image ]

BICYCLE GROUP
Our Bicycle Group rides on specified bike paths – 7.oo am Thursday mornings from chosen Start points – ride for 30+ mins, then coffee break time ! We have up to 12 Bikers at a time. ————-We’ll be starting from Bilinga in 2020 – up and down the new Oceanway Paths; occasionally venturing down the Tweed River bank to the Ancora Bakery – each ride finishing at a coffee shop for a chat ——

MAJONG GROUP
Our Mahjong Group meets twice a month on Friday afternoons . We can have up to 20 cheerful players doing battle till afternoon tea time – then another game or two till 4 pm. Come along to our Monthly Probus Meeting to inquire further – look forward to some great Arvies for 2020 !
We looked forward to our 2019 Christmas breakup Feast- 21 of us gathered for a final few games, then it was into the good stuff- Nibblies, Pizza,then Wendy’s Special Pavlova – [ photo ] – Massive!

SOCIAL CARDS GROUP
Our Social Cards Group may be more your ‘GO’ perhaps? On the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesdays of each month at Elanora, some of us meet for card games – 12.15 for 12.30 pm.
This is a good way to get to know more friends – Beginners welcome – you can join in with no hesitation.
We also meet after our Monthly Bistro lunches – lunch at midday- kick on with Cards till 5 if you can stay!

BISTRO LUNCHEONS

On the 2nd Tuesday of each month is our BISTRO LUNCH — Venues are chosen for quality, ambience and convenience – such as follows :-
Burleigh ‘Club Swell’ / Coolangatta-Tweed Golf Club’s smorgasbord /
Club Banora / West Tweed- Seagulls / Tallebudgera Surf Club / Tugun Surf Club.
November 12th was at the Tweed Heads Bowls Club with 17 of the 30 staying to play Social Card games.
2020 – January 14th was at West Tweed Seagulls Club.
41 – [ 34 members and 7 Visitors ] enjoyed a nice ambience with very good food.
The day was topped off for 22 of us playing Social Cards- 500 and Canasta-Hand & Foot.

WHAT’S BEEN IN 2019 ?
‘CHRISTMAS IN JULY’ — Thursday 18th July – was a magical tour for 54 members and visitors through the hinterland to a lunch at St Bernard’s – Tambourine. ‘

Thursday 1st AUGUST – was our SPECIAL SHUFFLE-BOARD Morning followed by a BBQ Lunch at the Elanora Suffleboard courts.
41 Members and Visitors had a great time learning the essentials of the game from club Stalwarts, then lunching on John and Paul’s BBQ extravaganza.

Tuesday August 6th was our venture to the AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK SPECTACULAR at OXENFORD – Good times for all !

Wednesday 4th September – 27 of our members and Visitors went off to BYRON BAY’s SCENIC TRAIN RIDE; shopping and Lunch to follow – another Great Outing.

Wednesday 30th October — SPECIAL BREKKIE at VIKINGS —– Following last years success, 24 of us breakfasted at the Vikings Surf Club at Elephant Rock- Currumbin.
Great food, conversation and fellowship in this now updated venue –

November 5th 2019 – MELBOURNE CUP PARTY TIME at CLUB SWELL- BURLEIGH [ $59 pp – Set menu ] – A beaut Steak or Salmon etc. We were there last year- had a great time again! – super venue / food / Cup entertainment.
I Vow and Declare we are eagerly anticipating Cup Party 2020 !

Sunday 17th November – Matinee – LIVE THEATRE – at Benowa’s SPOTLIGHT –
Some 16 Probus members and Visitors were enthralled by this top line Cast with live orchestra bringing us ‘Kinky Boots’.
What a grand way to top off our 2019 season.
We look forward to selected performances in 2020.

SCAVENGER HUNT / PICNIC — Sunday Dec 8th – The Secret Finish and Picnic was at the Murwillumbah riverside, where we settled our nerves with a cuppa then a Pizza-Fest .
Later, Ken marked our exam papers, with Loretta and Yolanda improving on last years placing up to First !
